The Best (but Definitely Shortest) After-Hours Party Ever

It was Winter Term either '67 or '68 - one of those wkends when every house seemed to have a major party scheduled on the Social calendar.
KDR had its' usual State College house band for the evening, PiKA had the Showmonts bus up from Baltimore (at least 10 musicians and hangers-on).

Our 'soul brothers' Phi Sig Delt had the Seven Screamin' (if you were in school in the Sixties, you knew the full name of this band from Harrisburg).

At that time, parties were much like a revolving door among groups who knew each other well. So much fun was being had during the regular party times in all three houses that no one wanted it to stop.
Naturally, it was decided that an 'after' party would convene - three fraternities and three bands - after the dates were taken back to campus.

The KDR living room contained > 20 musicians, singers, microphones, amplifiers, two Hammond M3 organs with Leslie reverb speakers, guitars, basses, keyboards, brass, etc. I'm still amazed that we had enough power capacity to drive all of the electronics and did not blow out the stained glass windows from the decibels and sound waves.  Well after midnight, this mega-conglomeration of musicians and screamers led off with 'Shake a Tail Feather' and the well over 100 guys drinking beer (or stubbies!) joined in the wail - the sound was other-worldly.

The neighbors did not take too kindly to this after midnight madness, and within a few minutes, 'State College's finest' abruptly ended what would have undoubtedly been one of the great gatherings in the annals of PSU fraternity life.
Sitting around playing 'Whale's Tales' and 'Thumper' were very pedestrian alternatives for 'killing the kegs', but not nearly as exciting.
